Pioneering Truck Care diesel mechanic takes pride in training and development
Laying claim to being “first” is usually something to be proud of. That’s exactly how Spencer M. feels as a pioneer in Love’s journey to expand its scope of Truck Care and Speedco services to get pro drivers back on the road quickly.
Spencer is among the very first Truck Care team members to become a level five diesel technician, then get promoted to a fully-fledged, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified level six diesel mechanic.
“I definitely take pride in paving the way with this career path. The pride isn’t just about me; I’ve seen our shop come such a long way in the past few years,” said Mullin, a member of the Truck Care team in Baxter, Tennessee.
In his senior role, Mullin strives to set an example in the shop, training up his team members and pushing them to be the best. With the volume of traffic in the shop seemingly increasing by the day, efficient teamwork is essential.
As Truck Care and Speedco offerings have expanded from tire sales to preventative maintenance and light mechanical work, so has the horizon of opportunity. Mullin has seen this firsthand over the course of his nine years at Love’s and looks forward to helping meet the industry demand for first-class diesel technicians and mechanics.
Mullin is thankful Love’s invests so heavily in diesel mechanic training with multiple avenues, including the Diesel Technician Apprenticeship and Truck Care Academy. As for his Love’s career, he is looking forward to being a valuable part of the training process for years to come.
“The ceiling is only as high as you’re willing to go. If you’re motivated and keep a positive outlook, you can build a lasting career here,” Mullin said. If you’d like to join a winning team as a diesel technician or mechanic, visit jobs.loves.com.
